Thoughts and ideas on how to build tools, automate workflows and speed-up the workplace.
Businesses face a more competitive environment than ever before. Often, efficient operations are the difference between success and closing your doors. Knowing how to create and implement an effective process improvement plan is critical. It doesn’t matter if you run a massive enterprise or a skeleton-staffed startup. Streamlined, effective business processes are essential for maintaining profitability. Inefficient processes lead to wastage, miscommunication, and unnecessary risk. The trouble is, these costs are relatively hidden.

In November, Budibase launched out of beta! The response from our community was amazing, and over 5000 new accounts signed up to Budibase. If this wasn’t enough, we’ve found time to release a number of new features: Budibase Blocks Blocks are predefined sets of components that streamline the design process within Budibase. Before blocks, creating a list of searchable cards took 10 minutes; with blocks, this process takes under 1 minute.

Most organizations will eventually encounter the need for legacy application modernization. Over time, older systems might not deliver the value they once did. This can be because of changing needs, new technologies, or emerging risks. In any case, it’s critical that your software stack stays up to date with your current needs. At some point, every tool needs to be replaced, retired, or rebuilt. This is basically a cost-benefit question. When a legacy application becomes more hassle than it’s worth, it’s time to modernize.

We use CRUD apps every day. Most of the time, without noticing. They keep us organized, they help digitise business processes, and they’re critical to application development. But many of us are oblivious to what CRUD apps are, or how to build one. Within this post, I am to provide you with a simple and straightforward guide to the world of CRUD apps. The guide is broken down into three sections:

Software is eating the world, and there are not enough developers to fulfill demand. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment for software developers, which includes software engineers, will grow 22%, substantially faster than the 4% average for all careers. As developers and IT professionals, this demand results in pressure. We are often given impossible deadlines, velocity goals and expected to deliver at breakneck speeds, with zero bugs. This is exactly why we need the support and acceleration of good open source development tools.
